  1. Only\noriginal and unpublished research papers are acceptable for publication.<\/li>\n
  2. The\nCurrents adopts the double-masked or double-blind review system wherein both\nthe reviewer\/s and the author\/s do not know each other\u2019s identity.<\/li>\n
  3. There\nare no submission fees, publication fees, or page charges for this journal.<\/li>\n
  4. Author\/s\ngrant the Currents the right of first publication. However, author\/s are\nallowed to have their work cited in other journals with an acknowledgement of\nits prior publication in this journal.<\/li>\n
  5. Articles\nsubmitted by the faculty, non-teaching employees (tenured, casual, and job\norder), and students (both at the undergraduate and graduate levels) of ZSCMST\nshall undergo the peer review process outlined in this journal.<\/li>\n
  6. Papers\nfrom other institutions can be accommodated. <\/li>\n
  7. The\neditors reserve the right to accept or reject articles.<\/li>\n <\/ol>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

    Currents is committed to upholding\nthe highest standards of publication ethics. In line with the Committee on\nPublication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices, this statement outlines the ethical\nresponsibilities of editors, authors, and reviewers to ensure integrity and\ntransparency in the publication process.<\/b>\n <\/p>\n

    For Editors<\/b> 
    Editors are responsible\nfor ensuring a fair, unbiased, and timely review and decision-making process. 
    They shall:<\/b>\n <\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Evaluate\nmanuscripts solely on academic merit, without discrimination based on the\nauthors\u2019 gender, ethnicity, religious belief, or institutional affiliation.<\/li>\n
    2. Maintain\nconfidentiality of all submissions and correspondence with authors and\nreviewers.<\/li>\n
    3. Manage\nconflicts of interest and disclose any relationships that may influence\neditorial decisions.<\/li>\n
    4. Act\npromptly and transparently when ethical concerns arise, including those related\nto authorship disputes, research misconduct, or potential retractions, in\naccordance with COPE\u2019s guidance on addressing integrity concerns (COPE, 2023).<\/li>\n <\/ol>\n

      For Authors<\/b> 
      Authors submitting to\nCurrents are expected to adhere to ethical research and publication practices. 
      They shall:\n <\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Ensure\noriginality of their work and appropriately cite sources to avoid plagiarism.<\/li>\n
      2. Accurately\nreflect all contributors who meet authorship criteria, as outlined by COPE\n(2019), and obtain consent from all listed authors prior to submission.<\/li>\n
      3. Disclose\nany conflicts of interest and funding sources.<\/li>\n
      4. Avoid\nmultiple or concurrent submissions of the same manuscript.<\/li>\n
      5. Cooperate\nwith editorial inquiries regarding data verification or ethical concerns, and\npromptly inform the editors if a significant error is discovered in their\npublished work.<\/b>\n <\/li>\n <\/ol>\n

        For Reviewers<\/b> 
        Peer reviewers play a crucial role in maintaining the\nquality and integrity of Currents. 
        Reviewers shall:\n <\/p>\n

          \n
        1.  Provide\nobjective, constructive, and timely evaluations based on academic merit.<\/li>\n
        2. Maintain\nconfidentiality and not use any part of the manuscript for personal advantage.<\/li>\n
        3. Declare\nany conflicts of interest and decline to review if a conflict exists.<\/li>\n
        4. Alert\nthe editor to any ethical issues or suspected misconduct, such as plagiarism or\ndata falsification, in accordance with COPE\u2019s ethical guidelines for peer\nreviewers (COPE, 2017).<\/li>\n <\/ol>\n

          Currents<\/b> is dedicated to\nfostering a responsible and transparent scholarly publishing environment.           Currents<\/b> is the official\nmultidisciplinary research journal of the Zamboanga State College of Marine\nSciences and Technology (ZSCMST). It is an open-access<\/b> publication released biannually\u2014in the middle and at the end of each year\u2014and\nserves as a platform for disseminating research across a wide range of academic\nand professional fields. The journal accepts submissions year-round and does not charge any publication fees<\/b>.\n
